Penguin Birthday Card

This card actually started with the background. To create it I stamped a big wallpaper stamp with oxide inks and spread the colour out with water. I really love the big pattern in subtle colours. Off course I couldn’t resist the spltters of water so remove some of the colour.

I then stamped the little penguin and painted him in oxide inks too. When he was dry, I did the background in copic markers. I also added some accents with a white gel pen and the Wink of Stella Glitter pen..

I cut out the pieces and arranged them on my grey card base card, also adding strip of black glitter washi tape. All this came together quite easily.

But before adhereing the penguin, I needed to stamp the sentiment. I really struggled with this. Finally I used a scripty letter stamp set to stamp out the Happy Birthday to you in short form and was quite pleased with the result. Now I could add the penguin, which is matted on black and adhered with black foam squares. I finished the card by adding a layer of glossy accents to the little critter. This really helps him pop.

The card is already on it’s way to a friend who happens to love penguins!
