Stars and stripes are both appealing to me and I immediately came up with the idea of making a shaker card.
First I used my fuse tool and a Sizzix star die to form a pocket for my sequins. I shaped it from a clear page protector. A small portion I left open, through which I generously filled my sequins, stars and pearls to go with my chosen colour theme. Then I closed up the pocket for good, again using the fuse tool.
Next I dry embossed the stripes on white cardstock. I swiped some versamark ink over the raised areas and heat-embossed them with platinum embossing powder by Ranger. I love that colour and it gives a great shine. Then I die cut the star from it.
The star pocket I adhered to the back of this and added a panel of gold cardstock behind it to show through between the sequins.
For my sentiment I heat-embossed a stip of cardstock in a bright pink colour. Over this I stamped the greeting in Versamark ink an heatembossed again in a lighter colour. That sentiment is from The Stamps of Life.
As a finishing touch, I added some sequins on the top left and beneath the sentiment. This guides the eyes gently across the whole of the card. I adhered those with glue dots, so the won’t seem lost against the shaker window.
