I’m chuffed with myself: A (nearly) one layered card, clean and simple. I created it after being inspired by the lovely sketch by Leigh Penner on CAS(E) this Sketch. Please scroll down to check it out.
The little critter is from the Avery Elle monster stamp set and I stamped him on a scrap of patterned paper, really loving the heart there. I cut him with the matching die and then coloured the outer edge in a grey copic, to make the actual monster stand out from the pattern. His eyes got a coat of Sakura white glaze pen and when dried I coloured on the pupil. The heart is covered in Wink of Stella.
I then created the cardfront right onto my card base. To start with, I masked off the side and the slope on the bottom. Then I stamped an Impression Obsession woodgrain background in frayed burlap and a bit of hickory smoke distress inks. I gave a light mist of water onto my stamp before stamping .Afterwards I blended some of the same colours onto the background.
To break up all that space I picked a big heart stamp by Heidi Swapp, which I sprayed with water, then stamped and lifted off the colour. I repeated this picking up some water from my craft mat onto the stamp, to get a more pronounced result.
I adhered my cuddly monster into place and finally double stamped the sentiment in Versafine onyx black ink. That sentiment is from the stamp set Birka created and sent me and which I featured in a previous post. Go and visit her blog to find some great digital freebies.
