On this card the focal point had been ready for a while, but I was at a loss how to intergrate it into a card. The Happy Little Stampers challenge helped me solve the problem. Embossing folder stamping! I’d never tried it before, but really enjoyed the results I was getting, after following the tutorial links on their blog. I especially enjoyed Audrey’s tutorial on youtube.
The focal piece was done by using the Sizzix butterfly die on a mixed media piece I still had. I liked the spring colours for the design. As the die is so intricate I used my precision base plate. This makes it so much easier to release the die-cut piece.
I the used the dictionary stamp from The Stamps of Life for my background, spraying it with mermaid lagoon distress spray, the adhering the butterflies to it. I used spray adhesive, as it is much easier, tghan adding glue to all the fine detail ba hand. I then cut around the piece.
It’s too small to make a card by itself. So this is where I left it, until Happy Little Stampers came along with their challenge. I tried the stamping with different embossing folders, sticking with the mermaid lagoon distress spray. The chevron was by far my favourite. I then cut this to size and inked the edges before adhering the piece to my base.
A tag cut from that same mixed media piece and some sequins finish the card off.
